History

The “Intro” of The Chlling Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House 2014 Halloween set is a nearly 4 minute instrumental song that is reminiscent of a horror movie soundtrack. It starts with some sounds like blowing wind and a wolf’s howl, punctuated by something that sounds like the “fight bell.” Then the sound of the synth begins an 80s horror movie kind of vibe, which is followed by a guitar part reminiscent of David Gilmour , over Page’s droning synth.

Onstage at the time, there were spotlights moving back and forth from stage level shining on a gate that might be at the entrance to a graveyard. Fog floats above the ground. On either side of the gate are spindly green trees and a portrayal of the full moon rising to the left. When the guitar part begins, the gates open, revealing behind the gates… a haunted house.

The windows are covered and yet we can see shadows within. A figure is revealed on the right side of the house, and she moves out of an opening in a wall, through the fog. There are tombstones in the cemetery. Suddenly, a creaky door opens, which some have fondly referred to as the fart door, and the figure is illuminated by a spotlight. Thus starts the first song of the set: "The Haunted House."

The “Intro” has not been played since, nor does anyone expect it to be played again.
