Odd show, with no huge jams and a couple of oddly-placed tunes (Slave in the three spot?), but as has been the case throughout 2010, the good stuff is tremendous, and the overall batting average is even higher than in '09. After the groovily patient improv at Hershey, it's fine to get a tight rock show like this one, featuring slamming versions of 46 Days, Gin, and Taste, a pleasantly groovy/relaxed Bag, and an overall level of intensity that belies the band's middle-aged family-friendly vibe. Idea is gonna be interesting once it's broken in, but its debut here is shaky; if memory serves that's mostly at Trey's doorstep. Meanwhile I still foolishly(!!) hold out hope for 2001 to return to late-90's form, instead of its current 5-minute(??) transitional vibe. Oh well.

The band is in a good, good place right now, and if they chase fewer ideas per minute than they did 20 years ago (and many more than ten years ago), they go from zero to fathoms-deep with remarkable fluidity and ease. This show is a notch below the first three shows of tour, I (currently) think, but is still wholly successful on its own terms - and that second set's a great listen, however pedestrian it looks on paper.
