I saw this show and the show the night before. I love Steamboat, some really great skiing. At this point of my life, however, I couldn't both ski and go to the shows. I chose the shows. The crowd was great, and the bar was located right at the base of the mountain. It is no longer there, I...

pretty keeeewwl to hear a show where the original opener was scrapped!! Nice Llama.. they were feeeling themselves at htis point in their career. Theses colorado shows are all classic for taper heads cuz it shows the effectiveness of this band's philosophy over others. they hadn't played many...

Definitely the Inferno, in the 'Boat. Yamar was dedicated to my boss Malcolm. I worked with a primordial Phan named Tim who turned our whole kitchen on the the wild sounds of the Nor'East. He may have had some influence in bringing the boys up Yampa way during their (second?) swing through...

Good show, pretty straight up 3 stars, I think. A typically nice YEM and a fairly crazy Antelope. Also, about the most amped-up Oh Kee Pa I've ever heard.

Really nice SBD source for this show. Unfortunately it’s just a regular 2 track recording. Charlie Miller put a 16 track recording of Set 1 into circulation back in 2015. Things start off with a nice Sloth/Sky combo. They pull out Llama again since night one’s version was plagued with sound...

Pretty nice SBD source available for this show. There’s some tape hiss present, so if this is a Cass/1 it may have been dubbed with poor equipment or possibly to a low end cassette. Things start out with Golgi. Page dedicates Ya Mar to Malcolm, owner of the Motherlode Restaurant in Steamboat....

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

1991-03-23 Possum (8:21) Set 1
Great jam with some cool, repeated licks that Trey lays out, and with Page on the B-3 for much of the jam.
Really good and unsual vocal jam in the intro, followed by a pugnacious jam with sick Mike and Trey.
