Larry has it - this would be a canonical Phish show even without the Beatles cover, which frankly can't touch the VU/Stones/Talking Heads/Pink Floyd covers in terms of musical interest. Whereas NYE 95 closed out a period of musical growth and personal triumph for Phish, this one kicks off an...

Glens Falls has always had some special mystique for me, it being the hallowed hall of the first ever Halloween musical costume performance (and a special one at that). That mysterious appeal has only grown over the years as I passed the signs for the Civic Center again and again driving down...

My fresh off the burner couch tour review: First set: Solid. USSR opener was lots of fun. Stealing Time was hot. Always love hearing Water in the Sky - I prefer the slow version, but I know to temper my expectations for that, and still always enjoy the fast one. David Bowie is short, but it...

I normally prefer “objective reviews” about the music over the personal “I was there” accounts, but some shows are just personal – even if you were just a face in the crowd (a masked crowd nonetheless). Although I have since listened to the recording numerous times, I can never escape the...

What a freakin' show. Even though I didn't know Trey was going to sit-in -- no one in my group did -- I had mentioned Trey being under house arrest in the county. I made a comment about how amazing it would be if Trey showed up. On the way down from Plattsburgh I got a weird vibe, chilling if...

Nearly every Phish fan should be familiar with this show (especially now that its been given the Live Phish treatment) but for those who aren't its a classic show and features the band's first musical costume. However the cover of the White Album isn't the real highlight of the show as much as...

I was there. It was a great, smallish arena. As I walked in, a man in a white Fluffhead looking mask was handing out gold chocolate coins. I got one, and my friend poked fun at him. Lights go down, and out walks that guy. It was Trey. A friend later pointed out that his mask was a perfect...

Not sure where to begin ....here is what I got. Before I comment last night was the smallest venue I have seen the band and possibly the closest I have been to center stage, at least in 15+ years :-)! That said... 1st Set---Simply put a great, high energy, fun, long, and TIGHT set. Highlights...

In honor of Sunday night's musical costume I'm going to provide my personal take of this masterpiece based on the soundboard. Set I: Frankenstein is not a creative selection, but nonetheless, comes nothing short of opening prowess. Great way to set the tone of the night - good rock n roll fun....

[Posted a long time ago, shortly after the show, to Rec.Music.Phish and slightly modified from its original state. -charlie] I know you have seen the setlist a zillion times, but here is the correct one. Long review to follow...[snip] If any of you remember seeing a guy in front of...

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

1994-10-31 Divided Sky (16:28) Set 1 Noteworthy
Superlative, epic, one for the ages. Hard rocking yet played with extreme precision, this version reflects the band at the top of its game.
1994-10-31 Reba (15:34) Set 1 Noteworthy
Thick grooves and beautiful melodies.... A quintessential Reba.
Following a strong "Twist," this heartfelt rendering of "Wading" provides a graceful interlude before a powerful "Hood."
A very solid version all around which includes an unusual vocal jam type ending, setting up nicely for "I Didn't Know."
2013-10-23 Gumbo (5:12) Set 1
Standard Gumbo but a great, funky clav outro from Page.
2013-10-23 Twist (13:58) Set 2
The "Twist" jam itself includes some nice playing by Mike and Page. Then at 6:30 the jam breaks into some mellifluous, semi-"HOSE," which settles down into thoughtful space before rebuilding energy and then cyling down to end.
2013-10-23 Harry Hood (13:21) Set 2
Early in the jam, the band pays homage to the great Worcester '10 version. After some quieter musing, the jam picks up a really great head of steam and peaks in an exultant and powerful manner.
1994-10-31 Julius (7:51) Set 1
Trey goes insane. Truly SICK version. > "Horse."
Well-played, mostly straightforward version. Shows just how strong 1994 was for "Antelope" that this one barely makes the cut.
1994-10-31 David Bowie (13:07) Set 3
Essentially "Type I," but this is a textbook, immaculately played version with great tension.
1994-10-31 Simple (8:26) Set 1
Taking the outro jam up a big notch from 10/29/94, this version includes a switch from major to minor mode towards the end that creates good tension. Simply put, this is the first enchanting, gorgeous version.
A spectacular, transcendent end to a spectacular, transcendent show.
