This is a good 1991 show. Highlights of the first set for me were It's Ice and You Enjoy Myself. This is one of my favorite early YEMs; Trey RAGES in this one. The vocal jam, based on "Salami," is pretty funny, too. The Set 2 opening Brother is nice, as is the Reba. The jam in Reba takes no...
The above review isn't wrong, but it does miss what I thought was one of the best Rebas I've heard them play up to this point. It builds slowly and peaks for a long time. The whistling is totally botched but the jam is where it's at. I really like both the Stash and Tweezer jams too. I also agree...
Much better tonight! This is the fifth and last show at Tipitina's for the boys, 22nd of the tour and really, much better than last night. I'm not sure how the show on the 2nd got four stars when they were sick and hung over? Anyway, good job on this one. The recording leaves a bit to be...
Possum also contains a Random Laugh signal.....i bought the New Orleans Relief livephish MP3s. i just finished listening and it's already one of my favorite shows from '91 and i only heard the second set! haha idk if the first set may be strong or not, but i will definitely try and get the whole...
Not much to say, not the greatest show, but nice to see them in a small, historical venue like Tips. Is at onstage and took some pics:

As with the above review, not a ton to say. Decent show nothing special.
Really high energy to start out set 1, enjoyed the Foam and Maze. Treys solo in Jim was okay, sounded a little sloppy to me. Cool trumpet addition on Lawn Boy and Cavern by Carl.
Liked the song mix surrounding the...
After a couple days off I was hoping to hear a stellar show, but it's Fat Tuesday and the boys are hung over and sick. Trey must have caught whatever Fish had in Florida because he can't sing very well. This was the 21st show of the tour and their fourth career show at Tipitina's. The...
Average-good Phish from 1991 on display here. Not a lot of slop, as the band was finally beginning to round into their obsessively accurate form. By this point, we were also starting to see a more creative use of secret language. The Popeye theme teases no longer sound out of place, DEG briefly...
A fast and frenetic composed section gives way to an awesome jam which, among other attributes - great shifts in rhythm and tempo, "Dave's Energy Guide" teasing - features playing evoking elements of "Divided Sky" (7:50). Compact, energetic, and experimental, a noticeable step forward in the song's evolution.
"Barney Miller Theme" tease, signals and some brief but really cool key changes near the end of a seriously raging jam. Archival release from Live Phish.
The band departs "The 'A' Train" having picked up members of The Aquariam Rescue Unit. The musicians lend color and character to the usually predictable "HYHU" jam, and the playing that ensues may leave you surrendering to the air, or simply tapping your foot. Fish's spoken-word "Love You" is more an afterthought, as the music, less Syd Barrett and more Tom Waits, becomes an industrial sort of groove, surprisingly musical and eminently listenable.
