Note: this review was written on the 20th anniversary of the show: I wonder if I'll ever get tired of talking about this. Bard College's infamous Halloween parties were ordered to be toned down by the brand new "Dean of Alcohol and Drug Abuse" (yes, that was her actual title) Beth Frumkin. As...

(Published in the second edition of The Phish Companion...) Due to the fact that a tape of this show has never come my way, this review will have to consist of mainly my personal memories of the show. Most of the music has long since been lost to...

My first ever show. I was 15 years old and thought I knew what music sounded like. Good music anyways. I was way off. I was now introduced to improv in such a profound way. I heard the dead before but this was different. (No taking away from the Giants The Grateful Dead!) the boys had something...

I wasn't into the band at all when I hit this show (my first). It was my first semester at SUNY New Paltz, just across the river from Poughkeepsie, and a new friend asked if I wanted to go. Rode in his VW bus to a college in Poughkeepsie (I think Vasser) and hung out in a dorm and had a few...

Well played show. Nothing there gonna blow you away, and nothing there gonna turn you away. Just straight up solid playing. Definitely recommend this to everyone.

This is the last show of the tour before the New Year's Run, as Trey notes. The recording for this show is pretty bad and it's missing the first set. The rhythm section sounds like a low rumble most of the time. Nonetheless, I enjoyed several parts of this show and most of the set is very tight....

Forbin? Harpua? Costume Contest? And all this went down as I sat in the freshman dorms at SUNY New Paltz about 10 miles away - I didn't know! It took me going to Colorado a couple of years later to find the Phish. Thank goodness Mr Steinberg was in attendance to share some of the show...

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

1991-05-02 Possum (9:56) Set 2
Cool intro with "Wipeout" teases. Jazz-like jam early with pulsing rhythm. Great Machine Gun Trey action follows.
1990-09-28 Gumbo (4:19) Set 2
Debut. Drawn-out intro, and it ends kinda suddenly midst the jam. Work in progress.
