This show doesn't get enough credit. After listening to a bunch of shows from this era chronologically, I have to say that this one is probably the best one yet. The set flows very nicely, and each song that is performed is a great representation of early Phish. The endless number Grateful Dead...

With most tapes leading up to this show you can see progress each show, especially in Trey's playing. This is the first show that seems to kind of be the same as those months before. The only thing that is new is Alumni > LJP > Alumni. It's interesting to hear how much the Bass is leading the...

Most of this show is, you know, raw. But do check out the jam out of McGrupp, which is a glimpse into what Phish would become!

This show was amazing!! Early Phish at their greatest!!!! The quality of this show is amazing too!! And a TWO SONG SECOND SET!!! Holy Shit. Let me start with the first set. It starts out with an I AM HYDROGEN. What!!! To open a show!! I doubt you'll see stuff like that nowadays. And it was...

Antelope definitely picked up the tempo with this recording.

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

The entire band breaks into a jam where Page would solo in later versions. Although the recording ends before the jamming section concludes, the nearly 5 minutes captured on tape give a good flavor for the open-ended nature of these early jams in "McGrupp."
Debut. The lyrics are narrated by Trey, rather than sung, and Page had not yet joined the band. A fairly intense, mostly straightforward Jeff and Trey guitar jam follows the lyrical section. (Circulates as filler on 3/4/85 Hunt's).
