I feel compelled to write a "review" since this was my first show. I should also confess that while I've downloaded it off the spreadsheet, I don't want to listen to it. So much of the magic from that night was due to being so blown away by everything and I don't want to tarnish that memory....

So I broke down and listened.... Now I know why I will always be a "Reba guy". I'm remembering my 18 year old brain being blown away as I keep cranking the volume louder and louder. Damn, do I love this band! What a treat hearing slower versions of tunes like Llama and Chalkdust.

12/28/90 First set: definitely had its moments, ie Llama (raging; trey's non-stop solo over end lyrics), Forbins->Mockingbird (flawless; page escp creative and jazzy in forbs). Bit sloppy on others. Disappointed w/ both mike's and weekapaug. Both started off strong but ended rough....

An alternate source to the Phish Spreadsheet entered circulation in 2015: http://db.etree.org/shn/133542 - Although Trey's guitar is still overloaded and distorted, this source is otherwise a significant improvement and should be heard. Still, this show can be added to the "Great show, awful...

Set 2 of this show was another one of the first few tapes I ever had. The music in solid and steady all the way through Divided Sky, but of course it is the John Popper guest segment that puts this show ahead of others from this era. This performance of Don't Get Me Wrong deserves to be more well...

Two things about this show stay with me to this day: 1. There was a person walking around giving out black and white wallet sized photos of a man he was calling "The Guy". 2. I somehow managed to fall asleep at set break leaning against a speaker at the base of the stage. Skills woke me up...

Listened to this one twice, and still don't have much to say about it. Thoroughly average show, not bad, not amazing. Highlights here are probably a solid, though short, Weekapaug and a Runaway Jim that peaks nicely. The Possum is missing from the spreadsheet recording, so maybe it was a...

12/28 shows tend to be overlooked, and the first one ever doesn't do the date many favors at the start. Quite the shaky 1st quarter to this show, some weird audio issues as well as overall iffy playing through the middle of Reba. It's only the third-ever Horn, definitely leaves a lot to be...

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

1990-12-28 Manteca (1:20) Set 2
-> in from "Tweezer." "Manteca" is sandwiched inside the "Tweezer" jam.
1990-12-28 Tweezer (6:30) Set 2
Deservedly popular early version with "Manteca."
1990-12-28 Tweezer (4:44) Set 2
-> in from "Manteca" to complete this "Tweezer."
A splendid full-band outro with melodic riffing that hints at the "Manteca" which fully emerges from the following -> "Tweezer".
