There's a reason this show is designated 'Live Phish 01.' The second set is some of the best Phish of a great year, particularly the ferocious Tweezer/Timber combo. Everything in December '95 sounds outsized now - like a key musical muscle was getting overworked, then sprained, and the band...

This was my first show... I was 14... I was "allowed" to go because of an older brother who was going "with" me! He let me stand in line while he and his friends did the lot scene! I did not understand any of what was happening... All I knew is that I was super excited and that I had wished...

College-aged n00b100 made this his first Live Phish purchase, as I had vague memories of my Dead-loving aunts playing me A Live One and I wanted to give the band a proper shot. Back then, I was most into Suzy Greenberg and the cover of Bold As Love (still one of my favorite Hendrix songs); now,...

I just aint hearing the "Slipknot!" tease..

I did not attend this show, but Set II is likely my favorite set of all time, and I feel compelled to write. My favorite era of Phish is 93-95, and this one exemplifies everything outstanding about that era. Set I is rock solid for song placement and flow. I love this version of Foam, and...

As I drove into the show to meet up with friends, snow was falling and driving was poor. A Binghamton radio station that was full of static was doing an interview with Trey. Alone in a car (in no shape to drive) and I listened to one of the most amazing interviews I have ever heard. Trey...

Today is the 25th anniversary of this legendary performance. Before the show I interviewed Trey live on WKGB where I was the overnight DJ at the time. It was a highlight of my 10 year radio career. The interview recording was not available for many years as I simply could not find it. However, as...

What else can be said about this close to perfect 1995 gem? Every song seems powered by an unrelenting arena rock. A classic show that deserves all five stars. A classic month for Phish only a few weeks away from the epic 12/31/95 show, this one proves that even in a shorter time span, Phish...

beautiful show. what is this incredible jam in Halleys?
1994-04-09 by LightsWentOut 5
This was my first show. After being handed a copy of Lawn Boy by a high school friend in 1991 and being subjected to hours of tapes at parties in college, I finally made the plunge in the Spring of '94 and got tickets to my first show in Binghamton. On an intellectual level, I knew what to...

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

1995-12-14 Foam (10:47) Set 1 Noteworthy
> in from "Horn." An overlooked standout from a show loaded with noteworthy performances. The balance and modulation of intensity is stellar, from the subtle, delicate musings during the solos, to the thrilling crescendo jam finale. Mike and Fish masterfully modify their texture as this one undulates while trending upward.
1995-12-14 Tweezer (9:17) Set 2 Noteworthy
Another must-hear version. "Slip Knot" tease in the segue into Timber.
1995-12-14 Timber (Jerry the Mule) (4:58) Set 2 Noteworthy
Awesome -> in from a serious "Tweezer", the jam is typical high quality '95 "Timber" fare, followed by another fantastic -> back to "Tweezer."
1995-12-14 Tweezer (9:47) Set 2 Noteworthy
-> in from "Timber" as this classic "Tweezer" continues.
1995-12-14 Halley's Comet (11:51) Set 2 Noteworthy
The first truly jammed-out version. Following the typical outro jam, the band breaks into an upbeat melodic groove. The pulse quickens, then settles into an eerie, on-off style jam. Fantastic segue into a stellar version of "NICU."
1995-12-14 NICU (9:11) Set 2 Noteworthy
-> in from a jammed out "Halley's." A rhythmic oriented outro jam morphs into a beautiful Page solo which -> to "Slave."
"Type I" until 8:50 when the jam breaks into a pulsing, percussive bent, which is followed by a wacky silent jam section.
-> in from a jammed out "NICU." Extremely powerful version. Fish and Trey lay it all out to end Set II of an epic show.
Pretty rocking jam, somewhat straightforward but with tempo shifts, unusual melodic lines from Trey, and a nice rhythmic breakdown section at the end.
1994-04-09 Stash (10:23) Set 1
Gnarly and heavy-duty power rocking jam. Not for the meek.
A pretty crazed version with multiple teases, a vocal jam, and some unusually tense playing.
Great Fender-Rhodes action from Page early, with the others gradually joining the mix. By 6:00, the power has cycled up on all fronts in a very crisp and cleanly played version. This one goes to 11.
