My brother thought that the backstage pass was just some sticker received as a gift (we had various commemorative stickers and trinkets, along with our tickets, given to us at will-call, including a Phish condom!). He stuck it to a garbage can and left it there. 10 minutes later, it was gone...

(Published in the second edition of The Phish Companion...) It's sometimes said that a Phish New Year's Show does a pretty good job of summing up the year as a whole, and New Year's 1996 would seem to fit this to a tee; highly enjoyable, albeit...

(Published in the second edition of The Phish Companion...) "The Last Show of the First Twenty Years" It's easy to think of Boston's sets as two separate shows because it felt like there were two different bands playing that night. The first...

At the time, this was the most hyped show of Phish version 2.0, and demand for tickets was unbelievable. Luckily, we were gifted a pair of excellent floor seats by a friend, allowing my touring partner and I to avoid the awful acoustics I'm sure those who sat near the rafters had to deal with....

Poppy, snappy, aggressive Phish. While no stand out or all-time jams, this show glows with that mid-90's spark. First set featured great versions of The Sloth, Gumbo, and Funky Bitch. Second set got deeper with a dark dark Timber Ho!, followed by an Uncle Pen that meant business, then one of...

(Published in the second edition of The Phish Companion...) I flew up to Boston from Philly to celebrate our anniversary...Phish's 20th and my 10th. This would be my 57th show and mark my first return to the Fleet since NYE ‘96. I had high hopes...

This is my continued story from the previous night in Albany. To recap quickly, I drove to Albany from New Jersey, had to get my sister out of the Albany hospital after she fainted at the show in the concourse, drive my wife back to Easton PA to her parents house, and drive from Easton to New...

Good show and some songs that I took for granted at the time, to date this is the only time I have seen Uncle Pen, Sloth, Lifeboy and Llama live. The PA going out was genius and I got a real kick out of that Phish trick. The anticipation of going to see the them the following night was just...

This is where it all started for me , i was a die hard metal/rock guy & my best friend Andy was a die hard phish fan who for years had spoken to me about how great the shows were etc etc , i was just too stubborn to imerse myself near anything " Hippie" , but he got me a ticket to the 20th...

I remember being frustrated by this show, but listening back on tape, it's not as bad as I thought. The first set was mostly the boys going through the motions. Overall, it seemed like the peaks the band had reached by the end of the summer were not to be present any place during this 4 night...

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

2003-12-02 Rock and Roll (17:59) Set 2 Noteworthy
Very good, multi-section version breaks from "R&R" into a pulsing, funky and bluesy groove. From there, it settles with solid instrumental effects, before regaining momentum and -> to "Weekapaug." (w/o any "Mike's").
2003-12-02 Maze (16:53) Set 2 Noteworthy
> in from "Cities." Technically "Type I," yes. But this is one of the most unusual, cool versions ever performed, starting with Page's section, and continuing into Trey's. You gotta hear this one!
2003-12-02 Piper (15:27) Set 1
Dissonant high power jam in this 20th Anniversary show version.
20th Anniversary edition. The jam shifts in the last minute to set up the segue into "Cities".
1996-12-30 Reba (12:43) Set 1
Trey employs a warm, "watery" tone, to play with focused precision and remarkable restraint. Truly notable support from Page creates more of an open and spacious canvas of sound (as opposed to "jam"), whose principal characteristics stem from an organic, natural vibe. The version floats evenly and easily for some time, before being shaped to a pointed, emphatic peak.
1996-12-30 Tweezer (14:45) Set 2
Very good version to be sure.
Page > Mike on bass > the whole band playing along > klezmer stops, Steven Wright rings bell, klezmer > bell, klezmer > bell, no Mike but straight transition to finale.
1996-12-30 Possum (11:47) Set e
A nice extended settled section, some cool "Johnny B. Goode"-like strumming, and a rousing peak in this fun version.
