An heroic taper found and released an AUD copy of the "lost" second set of this show, recently. So it is no longer lost to the ether! The sound quality isn't perfect: the acoustics of the room sound rather like a big, echo-ey box. And since we're used to SBD sources from this era, it would be...
WOW!!! And I mean WOW! This is the second in two years, and last show at the Balch Field house in Boulder, 28th of the tour. This one is high energy and may be the closest thing I've heard to "THE PERFECT PHISH SHOW” (this tour, so far) And I don't throw that phrase around lightly. This was a...
Just a couple things:
1. Overall, this is a really great show.
2. This is a really unique Wilson. It's not jammed, but if you want to hear a new take on this song, give this version a listen.
3. Mike's Groove is hawt! Mike's babbling during the intro to Mike's Song is pretty funny....
Vail then Boulder --> quite the 1-2 punch. Another great show. Tons of energy at Balch amidst the smoke and heat. I lived 1/2 mile from the venue so it was super easy. The party started early and resumed after the show.
About thirty minutes before leaving, we heard first-hand that...
Well there was no second set to listen to so, this was a good half show I guess. No big mistakes that I could hear. Sparkle is just about up to full speed now.
Kind of wish that second set was there considering the Harpua in there. Oh well.
OKay, first thing: Acoustics baaaad! But not at all unlistenable.
A fun and fiery Jim, Foam opener (no segue) both songs very well played. Awesome, here we are! Reba is plagued by some sound issues early but the playing is excellent. I've got to say it's very cool to hear them go from Foam...
My Song, Silla, Song, Silla, Song- Can't believe there is no show note anywhere about this Mike's song entrance, one of my fav shows here. Also can't get enough of that maze.
Damn great spring '93 here. The first set is full of classic tunes all played strong until you get to Wilson, which is infused with extra fun improvisational playing in the intro and breakdown. The closing Antelope is a beast of a jam as well. Second set Suzy features some particularly great...
Long, musically oriented intro with Trey repeating a melancholic riff and a sweet little jam in the pre "Blat, Boom...!" section with Mike hinting at "Getting In Tune" by the Who.
The 1st jam has some good variation away from the standard, while the 2nd jam is typical for 1993, somewhat crazed and chaotic, but also way out there and well removed from boiler plate "Mike's."
