This was my first exposure to Phish. I went to see Santana and came out onto the lawn to the opening of Suzy Greenberg. Immediately got me moving. I didn't know the names to any of the songs but once I heard the albums, I remembered them right away. Foam, Reba and Run Like an Antelope stood out and sounded so unique to me.
I left the show thinking that Phish basically upstaged Santana. The cool thing was my friends saw Phish at the HORDE show in Jersey. When we got back to school everyone was talking about Phish. Good stuff right there...

This was my first "show". Really it's a very fuzzy memory. I spent the summer after my freshman year of college seeing the Grateful Dead and going to every halfway decent show at the Mann which was 10 min from my parents house. If we couldn't get in we would jump the fence (yeah, I know)...We actually purchased tickets this night. I'd seen Santana the year before at the Tower Theater and had a blast. I remember nothing of the Suzy and Foam.

My memory kicks in at Llama when I finally recognized a song. It's the Antelope I have a true musical memory of. I think that's what finally drew my attention away from the novelty of going to this show with actual *girls*. The most notable part of this review is probably that music could draw my 18 year old attention away from cute girls. Trey's solo was wicked fast to my ears and grabbed me. I stood up and watched them walk off stage I believe. I'm pretty sure Trey walked on stage during Santana's set at one point.

It's hard to believe that this coming summer twenty years will have passed since this show. "Twenty years later…

This show was one of several during the summer of 1992 in which Phish opened for Santana. Carlos Santana may have referred to Phish as "the Hose," but during this show, they were no better than a leaky faucet. The show lacked energy and creativity. The band was cramped to the front of the stage, having all of about five feet between them, and they played only standard versions of each song. Every song was played as it appeared on the album. "Reba" (during a beautiful sunset -  this is where I developed my love for "Reba"s at sunset) was the highlight of the short opening set with the solo trying to take off, but hugging the album's version as if it were the walls of an ice rink. Coming away from this show, I got the impression that Phish is definitely not an opening band.

No recording found again. Looks like another "Greatest Hits" set from what I can see. I'm glad there are two other reviews on here to help fill in the feel of the set. My first live exposure was two weeks away.
