spreaditround PHISH, FRIDAY 06/09/2000
ON AIR EAST
Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan

SET 1:

Axilla: Standard. >

Taste: Trey goes ballistic on this one, would recommend!!! The guys yelling for Weekapaug (Weekapo Weekapo!) are funny. Would highly recommend this Taste.

Billy Breathes: Standard.

Poor Heart: Standard. >

Golgi Apparatus: Standard. >

Funky Bitch: Trey is a little over the top on this one, lol. They extend this one a good bit, much longer jam sections than is typical. Would recommend.

The Moma Dance: Standard. >

First Tube: Standard. >

Chalk Dust Torture:

SET 2:

Tweezer: Wow, where to begin? So much to unpack. There is definitely some filler. This jam is basically all Trey though. There is plenty of raunchy reverse reverb. There is a section that features the coolest effects from Trey in the most serene manner towards the end. I consider this jam in the same vein as the monster jams they played at Big Cypress.

Bouncing Around the Room[1] Pretty sure Trey forgot how to play the ending. But what he did play sounded cool and purposeful. Sly dog!

The Mango Song: Standard.

The Squirming Coil: Standard. >

Gotta Jibboo: Standard. >

Meatstick[2] Crowd just eats up the Japanese lyrics, lots of lols all around. >

Tweezer Reprise: Standard.

ENCORE:

You Enjoy Myself: Standard.

Summary: Would rate this as a 4/5. All time Tweezer definitely boosts this score. Otherwise it would have felt more like a 3.7 or so.

Replay Value: Taste, Funky Bitch, Tweezer.

[1] Brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick.
[2] First Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics.

The Moma Dance included Funky Bitch teases and Tweezer included Funk #49 teases. This was the first ever Meatstick to feature Japanese lyrics and Trey flubbed the words while attempting to sing them. Bouncing included a brief outro solo from Trey, which replaced the usual closing guitar lick. This show was re-broadcast on Japanese television.
JAM CHART VERSIONS
Funky Bitch, Chalk Dust Torture, Tweezer, The Mango Song, You Enjoy Myself
TEASES
Funky Bitch tease in The Moma Dance, Funk #49 tease in Tweezer
