Thx for good review!
I challenge you, and everyone else to be kinder about Drift While your Sleeping: it is a complex composition(which is a cornerstone of our love for this band) that is contemporary emotionally, and has a rich song along crescendo at the end. I feel so sad for them to Have to see/feel so many people loose interest while they play it! I e have so much love and respect for these guys, it seems important to extend it to whatever they want to share with us!
I couldn't disagree with this more. I don't see it as cognitive dissonance to love and have the utmost respect for Phish and genuinely dislike some of the material they produce. Why must Phish fans universally love everything the band does? I thought the reviewer put his passion for the band first, wrote several complimentary things about the show, and then professed an honest dislike for Drift While You're Sleeping (fwiw, it is also my least favorite song in the Phish canon). There are many people and things I love in this world, but I don't love every single thing about them. I don't know why Phish has to be any different.
