MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 436

Welcome to the 436th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the final and most difficult of September. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date and band in all three mystery clips, which are connected by a theme. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Good luck!

Hint: Sorry for the delay - you'll have till 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET tomorrow to answer. This week's theme is right on brand for this week's Dinner and a Movie.

Answer: Ah, so close @GregYagoda! These three Polaris jams are the 7/15/00 "Piper," the 7/31/98 "Ya Mar," and TAB's 7/24/01 "Simple Twist Up Dave" - hence the part in the OP about naming the band, and the missing band name on the results spreadsheet for jam #3. The blog wins for only the 28th time ever! Next week, we're playing for two codes...

Alright, here goes nothing. I'm pretty sure one of them is wrong but I can't figure out what else it could be and I've already wasted too much time on this:

#1: PIPER 7/15/00
#2: YA MAR 7/31/98
#3: DIGITAL DELAY LOOP 6/22/94

I think "the band" was just a red herring. They're all Phish.

Ah, bums. Well, I knew I didn’t have that 3rd one. It does sound a lot like the Digital Delay Loop (I though “Sorry for the delay...” might be a hint) from 6/22 Columbus, OH. It also sounds a lot like the end of Ghost from 7/23/99 that we’ll hear at tonight’s DAAM show.

I did notice “the band” hint and the TAB shows at Polaris but couldn’t find audio on Relisten so ran out of time and gave up. This was fun—will try again next week!

Ah I had the first two before the hint and lost my mind a couple of times scanning through all Ohio shows in desperation for the third. Should've known side bands were on the table.

That was straight up vicious with the TAB clip. . I saw a couple of those 2001 shows. There was a Spring show in Richmond where Dave Matthews showed up, and then a show in the summer where Mike showed up for the encore. I remember them letting us (the crowd) sing part of the chorus to Bathtub Gin while they just stared. Goodbye September, hello October.

It’s rare the MJM ventures outside of Phish proper, but not unprecedented (and always with members of Phish on stage playing)

I’d never throw just a random TAB clip up by itself, but in a themed MJM / last of month with a pre-hint? I’d argue it’s not a complete dick move (just a little bit haha)
