For many fans this show was the Big Deal of the tour, and its reputation hasn't diminished over time, though other shows (11/23, 11/29, 12/6) now compete for the title. The setlist is ridiculous, of course - really, a Mike's Groove/Hood combo in Set One?! - but the Halley's Comet jam marks a...

I'm an unapologetic Fall '97 booster, fanboy, partisan, evangelist, and myopic egotist -- i.e. I insist that Fall '97 is the best of all Phish tours, partly because it's my favourite...though I also insist that it's my favourite because it's the best (see above re: 'myopia' and 'egotism'). But...

Tonight’s second set was like the universe exploded and we all traveled through space shattered to bits along with everyone and everything else just spinning and splitting into smaller and smaller pieces until we’re all just space dust, like a cloud of space dust blowing through the universe—and...

When Phish plays shows like these, it's tempting - maybe even necessary - to go back and pore through the first set, to look for clues as to what the second set would have in store for us, any sort of inkling at all. And this first set certainly offers up those clues - everything is played with a...

The greatest Phish show ever. The end. Okay, fine - if you wanted to draw up a model Phish show, the one to hold up against every other show before or since, what would you go with? Jamming, of course - w00ks and n00bs like myself and long-timers are all united in our love of kickass jams....

i believe that this was an above average great phish show. stay with me here. going to start with the second set. the second set, on paper, looks bad. and also, admittedly, even being in attendance there were some low moments. obviously hearing the line is never good. following it up with...

9/21/25: The “21” Show: 21 songs total opener: 1st tube + 20 years later = 21 2001 21 minute set break 21 minute mike’s groove 21 min mind + 21 min scents 21 minute encore sat night sets were *noticeably* shorter than friday and sunday because each was deliberately 81 mins...

I think the reason I keep going to Phish shows (this run puts me close to 45 slowly shedding n00b status?) is because I always go in hoping that I’m going to see the best show I’ve ever seen. And my favorite band threatening to play the best live music I’ve ever heard is a very tempting dragon...

Mind Scents. Coming to you directly from the Mothership. 1-2 combo punch of 20 min jams melting alien faces. WGTYM took us to deep space and beautifully segued to the goose bump-inducing slow opening of Scents. The immediate heir apparent to the Hampton Simple, Scents was an outpouring of...

Notable Jam Chart Performances

Individual jam chart entries from this venue:

2018-10-21 Simple (19:54) Set 1 Noteworthy
A creeping late-night stroll accented by a descending progression and mysterious Trey soloing then smoothly transitions to bliss and ignites at minute 17 for a joyous, trill-filled peak before slamming back into "Simple" to end.
2018-10-19 Golden Age (23:21) Set 2 Noteworthy
Aggressively experimental "anti-bliss" jamming begins with angular grooves and then takes a rare deep dive into the abyss with plentiful space effects and "Shipwreck" quotes. Resurfaces > "Twist".
2013-10-20 Golden Age (17:14) Set 2 Noteworthy
> in from "Tweezer" as the second half in a pair of phenomenal jams. The usual funk-rock elements are present, but the jam gets taken to another level when it bleeds into an intense, psychedelic ambience. Fishman on Marimba Lumina. > to "Piper."
2013-10-20 Tweezer (23:07) Set 2 Noteworthy
Exceptional, diverse "type II" action, ending in a mellow, spacey haze.
2013-10-19 Steam (10:53) Set 2 Noteworthy
Features a surprising rhythm-based section with Trey joining in on drums and Mike playing his fight bell with drumsticks. Worth hearing for this journey "outside the box" alone.
2013-10-18 Carini (16:06) Set 2 Noteworthy
Fantastic, multi-section version in which Page is clearly the superstar, on the B-3 and teaming with Mike early, jumping to piano for some melodic "HOSE" with Trey, and downshifting to great funk action with Mike.
2004-08-09 Chalk Dust Torture (19:00) Set 1 Noteworthy
Breaks free and clear of "CDT" into a serene, very melodic, Trey and Page led foray. Starts to build in energy and pulse, then abruptly veers back to "CDT" at about 18:00. Must-hear, especially for any 2.0 doubters.
2004-08-09 Bathtub Gin (21:06) Set 1 Noteworthy
A thrilling, intense, Must-Hear version, right on the heels of one of the best versions of "Chalk Dust Torture" ever. No comparison with previous eras, this is uniquely 2.0-style jamming. -> to "Runaway Jim."
2003-01-04 Roggae (9:25) Set 1 Noteworthy
Outstanding version combines exceptional Trey soloing, strong Page/Trey back-and-forth, and excellent dynamics modulation driven by Fish and Mike. This one will make you weep with joy.
2003-01-04 Weekapaug Groove (11:17) Set 2 Noteworthy
Very improvisational version which makes a big move away from the standard at 3:45 and takes on an increasingly dark tone. Whether it's "Type I" or "Type II" is really irrellevant. It's a great and different version, well worth checking out, and includes an unusual transition to "What's The Use."
2003-01-03 Wolfman's Brother (14:52) Set 2 Noteworthy
Super solid version with a gradual transition out the funk phase that develops into a kick-ass celebratory blow out.
2003-01-02 46 Days (20:58) Set 2 Noteworthy
Debut. Jam gradually settles down from high powered "46 Days"-style in to a subtle, Trey and Page led foray. Picking up rhythm and energy, there are "CYHMK" teases as the jam builds in intensity. Settles down at the ending with no return to "46 Days" proper.
1999-12-18 You Enjoy Myself (22:47) Set 1 Noteworthy
Very inspired jam segment! (No B&D.)
1997-11-22 Weekapaug Groove (13:34) Set 1 Noteworthy
A fan favorite show opens with a strong "Mike's Groove." "Weekapaug" begins with strong "Type I" jamming through 6:50, when it shifts to '97-style funk mode with a slightly dark tone. The funk ends with a "stop" and returns to "Weekapaug" in very good form.
1997-11-22 Halley's Comet (24:13) Set 2 Noteworthy
Starting off in a funky, mellow groove, the jam gradually grows legs and momentum with excellent contributions from all four. At about 18:00, the jam downshifts to a more quiet, pensive sentiment with occasional flashes of powerful bass and percussion. A must-hear classic.
