Very solid show from beginning to end. Believe me when I say it was a relief to get the idea of the relatively jam-heavy Worcester shows-as- loose-practice-runs-for-Bonnaroo/Summer Tour put to sleep.
The Sloth opened up the first set. After not opening a show from 11/24/91 in New Hampshire...
Interesting show, seemingly designed to divide the obsessive jam-chasers from the good ol' goodtime kids. Everything's well played, as has been the story all through this (so far excellent) tour; lately even the conventional stuff is invested with wonderful energy.
Dig the packed, punchy...
Ok formalitiees out of the way. Set 1 was fun. A bit of jamming, nothing too big. What ev, who cares?
BUT SET 2 ON THE OTHER HAND! Wall to wall jamming, with trimming, teases and quotes. Fucking brilliant. We got type 1, we got type 2, we got it allllll!!!! No but really, if you can grab this...
They are officially no longer the guy in the pg13 movie that everybody is pulling for and reeally hoping will get the girl. They are the guy in the rated r movie whose character your not sure you like, your not really sure where he's coming from yet. They don't need anybody pulling for them....
Interesting show! Both sets are just filled with interesting jams, some type 1, some type 2, all of them worth a listen. The stand out in the first set has to be the Tube. It seemed the band put a lot of effort into playing what can sometimes be a rote song, and hell it payed off. This is a...
Raging show. Can't stop listening to that deep Timber>Fluff>Walls>Character WOW.. BOOM!
Drowned is always 2nd set solid opener, but what got the juices flowing on this 3rd night 2nd set was the 2001. Possibly the best I've heard since the 2003 Anniversary Run (Albany). This is on my...
WOW! I had a Blast!
Easily the best 1-2 punch shows I've seen since 1.11.11.
My Sweet One - havent seen since 1990
Billy Breathes - Never saw it ever!
Ginseng Sullivan - Again! 1st Timer!
First Set - right outta the gates I got this new laid back jamming thing -less is more - great...
Step Into The Sewer Pt 3
How this third night snuck up so quick is beyond me, but there it is. I’m sure it’ll get a bit panned, sorta deserved, sorta not. There wasn’t much in the way of flow, but like any show these days, there’s something to sink your teeth into.
Set 1’s Timber, which I...
Following a good straightforward "Birds" jam, this one moves beyond "BOAF" proper into an upbeat, pulsing jam. From there, it shifts again into 3.0-style ambient space, before regaining some rhythm and -> to "BOTT."
Second jam is a journey down slankytown lane. Slow, with some stop-start funk. Go to Atlantic City for the shady off-Boardwalk atmosphere. Stay for this "2001".
A fast break from "Light" -> to a quick rendition of "Manteca." Fantastic stuff. Remainder of the jam is Fish-driven and unlike another "Light" jam. There is quality "Type I" jamming as the band shreds over "Manteca" and "Crosseyed" teases.
