david_bowie I did not complain (much) about an extra $10 added to the ticket price when I knew I could download the show and listen again and again offline. So, I am not too pleased that the price is still factored in without the download. Remove $10 from the ticket price and let the market separately decide the worth of the various download options. Why are we artificially propping them up?

Allow me a brief rant on ticket prices in general...

The average price of a "bakers' dozen" ticket, not including fees, is $72 or $80. I spent almost $2,000 to get a pair of tickets to this MSG run - cue the giant cartoon lollipop labeled "SUCKER." In 2010, before the TABification of our favorite rock band (see Petrichor, et. al.), the average price of a phish ticket was $50. Those of us who are neither drug dealers nor trust funders are feeling the squeeze.

More concerning is that ticket prices seem not only seem to be increasing rapidly, but also inversely proportional to the quality of the band's performance. Save for Hartford and a handful of shows out West, last summer's tour was pretty sad. I still have high hopes for NYC, but if the boys cannot deliver the goods I might just have to wait a few more years when they are relegated to smaller venues.
