I am a huge fan of themed sets and some thought put into being weird. Someone said an ocean theme or when they did all songs with the letter S. That kind of stuff is cool and keeps things fun and fresh. They are sounding awesome lately and clearly in a spot where the foundation is totally set and they could take some chances. As someone else mentioned, I do hope they bust out new songs and have to go for some seriously weird improvisational tangents. I could honestly care less about new covers. I want to hear their amazing songs and the improvisational magic that can arise within/out of those structures. Maybe an encore cover or third song in the first set, but that's it.

On the couch tour back on the civilized coast (:, I would love to see or read a setlist that includes...

1. Gamehenge in its entirety
2. A subtle, but easy to figure out theme to an entire show
3. Open a set with Hood and jam through, in and out of other tunes, but end the set feeling good about hood
4. Serious start/stop funk breakdown in 2001 or Tube - yeah, I also agree with someone else regarding Moma Dance - it could easily turn into a 15 minute 70's porn excursion.
5. It's true - its beyond time for a one-time Dead cover blowout and SF is just the place. Shakedown, Eyes, or a Scarlet/Fire. Just once then lay off the Dead moving forward.
