Jam Chart for Hey Stranger (4 entries)

Date City Timing Notes
2022-12-29 New York, NY 6:19 Debut.
2024-04-21 Las Vegas, NV 10:31 After a composed section punctuated by flourishes from Page, Trey starts the solo with some swelling guitar licks which give way to a funky, groove based jam which goes from deep and murky to a fun, flowing jam that doesn't stray far from the song's structure.
2025-06-28 Austin, TX 9:44 A song very much of its time (check the excellent 12/29/22 debut). Perfectly at home between canonical "Reba" and nu-canon "Plasma," this is next generation material. No song > improvisation, the jamming is organic as play from any "Moma," inventive and musical ideas rising from the fabric of the structured material. Trey's strumming after the seven-minute mark sets off Fish and the play becomes forceful, ultimately leading to the fiercest play to date.
2025-07-25 Saratoga Springs, NY 12:20 Caps a strong Summer tour for "Hey Stranger" during which it was further cemented as a first set staple with a jam that stretches the form and features jazzy Mike/Trey interplay before a sharp conclusion.
Jam chart versions are selected because of improvisational and other characteristics that distinguish these from typical versions of the song.
Versions with a red background are in the Phish.net Hall of Fame, and reflect exceptional, legendary, and classic moments from Phish's performance history.
