Poppy, snappy, aggressive Phish. While no stand out or all-time jams, this show glows with that mid-90's spark. First set featured great versions of The Sloth, Gumbo, and Funky Bitch. Second set got deeper with a dark dark Timber Ho!, followed by an Uncle Pen that meant business, then one of the more sinister, slow, almost half-time AC/DC. This one is firey, for sure. An underrated show, worth your time to crank up the audience recording and feel the hugeness.

Good show and some songs that I took for granted at the time, to date this is the only time I have seen Uncle Pen, Sloth, Lifeboy and Llama live. The PA going out was genius and I got a real kick out of that Phish trick. The anticipation of going to see the them the following night was just killing me and that is what I remember most.

Llama: Standard.

Gumbo: Standard.

Reba: Solid!

Talk: Standard.

Funky Bitch: Such good sports when the P.A. cut out.

Theme From the Bottom: Standard.

Good Times Bad Times: Ripped HARD.

SET 2: Timber (Jerry the Mule) > Uncle Pen, AC/DC Bag, Guyute: Standard.

Tweezer: An exceptional theme is realized at 8:32 and is ridden through 11:00. HOSE. ->

Lifeboy: Last time Tweezer was paired with Lifeboy out of 19 times. >

Scent of a Mule: Standard as far as I am concerned.

Slave to the Traffic Light: Very strange. Had it primed for excellence and out of nowhere it completely disintegrates.

ENCORE: Possum: Standard.

Summary: Average show. Reba and Tweezer have replay value. Other than that ????‍♂️

Ya Mar: good start, Mike antics

The Sloth: couple mishaps by Trey but solid otherwise

Llama: nice solos by both Page and Trey

Gumbo: not fully jammed quite yet but enjoyable middle section before Page's ending solo

Reba: with a fast tempo they get through the composed sections pretty much flawlessly, and the jam is gorgeous as always. Great stuff. No whistling

Talk: Trey on acoustic guitar

Funky Bitch: the PA cutting out is funny and crowd is patient as they fix it, and when they do the raging continues

Theme From The Bottom: standard

Good Times Bad Times: fun way to end the first set, solid performance

Timber: straightforward to start off the second set. Fun but not too exploratory

Uncle Pen: standard

AC/DC Bag: jammed with a little exploration but mostly type 1

Guyute: standard, no notable flubs

Tweezer: stays in familiar territory for a while with a tremendous buildup then gets type 2 for the last couple minutes. Highlight of the night for me then segues nicely for the last time into

Lifeboy: standard

Scent Of A Mule: another great highlight here. Pages part of the jam is awesome, then Mike takes over with a cool bass jam + vocals then they finish it off. One of my favorite versions of this song

Slave To The Traffic Light: fantastic way to end the set. Nothing out of the ordinary but you can't ever go wrong with this

Possum: longer than usual version to end the show. Energy is high and the band and crowd are ready for New Years Eve the next night

This is a solid show after a great run in Philly. Probably the least notable night of the 1996 NYE run but not bad at all. Only significant exploration is in Tweezer and SOAMule but every version of the songs played are either standard or very good. No disappointments unless you don't like the switch-up to acoustic for Talk. For me this is a 6.5/10 show
