I agree with @DollarBill's review, this is an excellent show to check out if you're looking for something off the beaten path from 1993. The spreadsheet source is an above-average AUD. Just wanted to add that Southern Methodist University is located in Dallas, where Page attended between 1982-1984. NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson had earned first team All-American honors while at SMU in 1982, so Trey takes a moment after Stash to acknowledge the connection Page and Eric Dickerson share. Although in retirement Eric Dickerson has been an advocate for addressing racial injustice in college and professional football, he had received suspensions in 1990 and 1991 for refusing to submit to a team physical, allegedly due to sustained drug use. Perhaps that's why the Bowie intro also features an Eric Dickerson reference, with Page quipping, "Lotta memories..." ;-)

Good news everyone! After a day off and away from the Mardi gras scene the boys take Dallas by storm. This is the only show at the Deep Ellum Live, 23rd of the tour, and it's a good one. Lots of bluegrass in the set list to win over the south. Trey is still sick, but Page and Mike have been picking up the slack nicely. The recording was also soundboard quality making this a very enjoyable listen. Even though you can hear their flaws, you can't deny the energy of this show.

Nice Buried Alive to open with, Mike has an off spot. Trey finally gets the names right going into the solos on an ok Poor Heart. The extra solo progression is still in there too. Cavern is early tonight? This one is good not great. Foam was really experimental tonight. They are taking risks in this one and it's paying off for me. I really need more Mike in the mix as they go into a rocking Sloth. Trey has got the true rock vocal going on because of his cold. Rift is on fire, but is still not quite tight in the timing. Stash was played very staccato from Trey's part. The middle section had problems, but there is a great jam. Trey announces Page's homecoming to Dallas before a more controlled Sparkle. Fish misses the start of a pretty good Ice. Creepy middle section tonight and we loose Mike in the climb at the end. IDK is funny with the dedication of Fish's solo. I'm sure they say "DOSE" in the Simpson's signal before a rocking Possum closes up a great first set.

Solid Landlady to open up the second set. Chalk Dust rocks as usual. Guelah was a little weak, but the Asse Festival is spot on. Trey pushes the beat so hard on Pen that they actually fall off during the last verse. Up till then it was on fire. Mike's is good, but the jam sounds very confused after the F part. Simple has not been written yet, of course. Hydrogen was ok. Weekapaug was great! Again taking risks like in Foam earlier, the jam was really good. Hey, then we have a bust out! Jesus makes a return after almost a year and a half and it's very well played. My Sweet One is also good, and then the balls come out. Sloppy ending on the Ball Jam, but whatever... HYHU brings Fish back out to multiple nick names. And I mean every one in the book! Silly band intros and a long vacuum solo on Love You are pretty standard Tubbs antics. Shout outs for Fee fall on deaf ears as Trey starts Coil. This one is ok, we loose Mike in the middle somewhere, but Page beautifully picks up the pieces in the end. Everyone gets shushed for a surprisingly solid Amazing Grace. Good second set overall.

A really rocking GTBT is the lone encore tonight. High energy and well played.

Great show and maybe a hidden gem for those who don't hear a lot of 1993. Definitely check this one out.
