SET 1: Fluffhead, Esther > Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove, Donna Lee, Run Like an Antelope
SET 2: Golgi Apparatus, Caravan, Bouncing Around the Room, The Sloth, Possum, The Ballad of Curtis Loew > The Lizards
ENCORE: Carolina, Whipping Post
There's solid performances of Fluff and Esther here and a short but sweet Mike's Groove. Donna Lee is good, but I prefer it with horns. Antelope is on the short side as well, but rages quite nicely. Caravan is always fun to hear. Everything else in the second set is just standard songs, though well played and all pretty tight. I would recommend checking out that Whipping Post though.

I would recommend checking out that Whipping Post though. The sound on the first set is pretty crispy, except the levels on the guitar are waaaaay low so the songs sound kind of empty. In set two, the guitar mix problem is better, but the overall sound is worse and there are BIG level jumps. Musically, everything is pretty solid, with one highlight being the Whipping Post encore (full band, not Henrietta). I was going to say three stars, but it was close anyway, and since there are the sound issues, I'll go two stars.

Things start out strong with a Fluffhead, Esther opener. The great flow continues with Mike’s Groove. Donna Lee and Antelope round out a short but nice looking first set. However, nothing noteworthy takes place even though the set list flow was spot on.
Set 2 kicks off with Golgi. Caravan is always a welcomed treat. The Sloth>Possum combo seen numerous times in ‘89 makes an appearance again. This time without the composed outro seen segueing out of Sloth at the time. Rare Lizards set 2 closer. Carolina and a surprise Whipping Post in the encore slot. Last seen at Penny Post on 1/25, but unfortunately no recording circulates of that show. The last circulated version took place on 5/13/89 in Syracuse. Nice to hear again, but the second jam doesn’t get as experimental as the versions heard throughout ‘88 and ‘89.
