    Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes, leader of Sunpie & The Louisiana Sunspots, is often hailed as one of the best harmonica players in Louisiana. He is also an accomplished accordionist and vocalist. Sunpie is not just a musician, though. He played professional football with the Kansas City Chiefs and has appeared in several commercials and feature films. And, perhaps most admirably, he spends his days as a Louisiana Park Ranger, protecting the wildlife of the local swamps.
    As Bruce is from Louisiana, it was only fitting that Phish called upon his services at Tipitina’s in New Orleans in March of 1993. There, the band rocked through blues songs “It's My Life,” “Loup Garou,” and “Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie.” Trey returned the favor at JazzFest on 4/28/96, sitting in with Sunpie and his band.
